The Story of Solent City from Brook Lapping for BBC Radio 4

From Brook Lapping, The Story of Solent City airs on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday 14th March at 7:15 pm.

Author Owen Hatherley travels across South Hampshire, meeting architects, planners, and historians in search of the lost future of Solent City – the extraordinary 1960s plan to unite Southampton and Portsmouth with a vast, Los- Angeles style grid.

With the plans ultimately rejected, the feature explores the consequences of its defeat, not only for the region but for the future of urban planning in Britain.
