Tern TV Commissioned by BBC Scotland to Produce Groundbreaking Documentary Series on Women’s Prisons 

Tern TV has been commissioned by BBC Scotland to produce a powerful and immersive four-part documentary series, Jailed: Women In Prison.

With exclusive access granted by the Scottish Prison Service, the series provides an unprecedented look at two of Scotland’s female prisons: HMP & YOI Stirling, the country’s newest and largest facility for women, and HMP Grampian.

Following both staff and prisoners as they navigate the challenges of daily prison life, it sheds light on the systemic and societal issues behind crime statistics and explores the unique and often-overlooked challenges faced by incarcerated women.

Viewers will witness first-hand the trauma-informed approaches pioneered at HMP & YOI Stirling, which opened in July 2023 with a mission to better rehabilitate women in custody.

The series is set to air later this year.
