Showrunner Karen Edwards tells Broadcast how Rex got rare access to US Navy fighter pilots

Ahead of the new series’ release, showrunner Karen Edwards sat down with Broadcast to talk about how Rex produced ‘Top Guns: The Next Generation’, and explored how the team were able to secure unprecedented access to the US Navy’s elite fighter pilot programme and facilities:

“Any access is a privilege. Filming inside the US Navy’s elite fighter pilot training program, you feel that privilege every single day. Watching students mentally gear up for make-or-break flights, witnessing the intensity of a live dogfight simulation, hearing the thunder of take-off vibrate through your bones – this is access television at its most visceral.”

‘Top Guns: The Next Generation’ airs Sunday 21 September at 9pm on National Geographic UK and will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
