Miriam Margolyes Made Me, Me

Miriam Margolyes Made Me, Me is a raw, intimate, and unexpectedly transformative documentary.

Two years ago, the director, Simon Draper set out to make a podcast with the legendary actress Miriam Margolyes. It’s conceived as her ‘final act’, a reflection on her life and the lessons she wants to impart before her death… but things soon go awry.

Miriam is experiencing a late-life surge in popularity, making her more visible and adored than ever. Determined to cash in before her health fails, they begin their podcast adventure only to have Miriam sidetracked by an Australian book tour, reuniting with old friends before they die and visiting the Queen. The documentary becomes a chaotic, joyful road trip, as Simon takes on a new role as unofficial carer, confidant, and companion.

Miriam moves through the world with unwavering honesty whilst Simon films the whole lot on his iPhone. The results are unfiltered, messy, hilarious, and human. For all her stage presence, Miriam is most magnetic simply being herself, fiercely compassionate, radically open & disarmingly authentic.
