For eight months, The River follows the people and businesses from the Scottish Borders who live and work beside the banks of the world famous River Tweed.

From the international flavour of the Melrose Rugby Sevens, to the hundreds of river ghillies and boatmen who dedicate their lives to managing the salmon that run up the river in Spring and Autumn.  From hotel weddings and tackle shop dilemmas, to a world class chocolatier aiming to open her new chocolate school and factory in time for a royal visit, and finally, to the Common Ridings season, where ancient traditions of ‘riding out’ to mark boundaries are celebrated in festivals throughout the borders.
